26/08/03 - The View from the inside
Welcome. My name- The Insider. My job- To provide you with the inside information and goings-on in Explosive Pro Wrestling. Who I am isn’t real important. All I will tell you is that I have been a backstage worker with EPW since its inception. I have no affiliation with either the Uprising or the EPW led faction, which means that I will call it exactly how I see it. It also means that I am in a great position to get the stories that noone else can.

My first story revolves around the EPW champion, F.N. Carnage. At Inner Turmoil, I had a chance to speak to both Carnage and Slick Rick. I asked Carnage how he would deal with the pressure of being a double champion. “What sort of question is that?” he replied. “How much effort do you think it took to become a double champion in the first place? I’ve already proven that I am capable of dealing with pressure. Besides, the pressure isn’t on me. I’m the champion. I don’t have to beat anyone. They have to beat me.”

So who will be the champ’s first challenger? Slick Rick was quick to jump up and answer on his charge’s behalf. “Carnage is a fighting champion. Since he joined forces with me, he has only lost one match and that was tonight. And his opponents had to rely on a cheap count out result to get the job done. Carnage can defeat anybody in EPW. He had the longest winning streak in EPW and if we are simply counting singles matches, that streak is still going. He will face anyone…anytime. Oh sorry, I meant anyone who hasn’t fluked a win over him in the past.”

So Carnage is ducking people who have shown that he can be had? “NO NO NO. That’s not what I’m saying. Only two men have ever managed to pin this man’s shoulders to the mat. Davis Storm, who used every cheap tactic in the book to beat Carnage, and Brad West. Davis Storm has done nothing to deserve a title shot this year. And BRAD WEST!! That was a fluke! That was a sham! Brad West should go and buy himself a lottery ticket because the gods were smiling on him tonight. Who the hell has Brad West ever beaten to deserve a title shot?”

Well Carnage for starters Rick. After a steady first year in EPW, West has exploded this year. He has gone from a trainee struggling to find his feet in EPW, to being a genuine prospect of beating anyone on any given night. His Chair on a Pole match was one of the highlights of this year and although he went down in the end, he proved he was capable of taking the best wrestlers in this company to the very limit.

So I have to ask the question, is Carnage running scared from Brad West?

“Running scared?” the champ replied, “I’m scared of noone in EPW. But as champion I do expect a challenger to be a serious challenge to my title. And I certainly don’t consider Brad West to be that. So I have spoken to our chairman, Azazal, and he has guaranteed me that I will not have to worry about defending the EPW title against West anytime soon.”

So the challenge is out there waiting to be accepted. Slick Rick and F.N. Carnage are seeking a challenger for the EPW title. Unless your name is Davis Storm or Brad West. Especially if your name is Brad West. With Carnage as champion and Azazal as chairman, his wait for a title shot may be a long one.
