EPW News & Rumours
26/02/04 - INSIDE Black Briday
Black Friday has come and gone. And I, THE INSIDER, was there to witness all of the backstage drama. I was able to catch up with a few EPW wrestlers and get their thoughts on the events of Black Friday.
  • Kiel E.Lectrifying was in a particularly somber mood after the event. He tried to talk to Brock Freeman after his loss to Shane Haste but Freeman wanted no part of him. “Is that your way of proving yourself to me?” Freeman screamed. “Get the hell away from me. You’re fast running out of chances with me kid.” Even I, THE INSIDER, couldn’t manage to get a comment from Freeman about his upcoming match with Shane Haste at Animosity. “I keep trying really hard to impress Brock,” Kiel said as he cradled his picture frame of Brock. “I want to be just like him. He’s like a big brother to me. I mean he always beats me up and abuses me and calls me a moron but that’s what friends do right??” This kid is crazy!! Freeman has a god complex. He is preaching the word of Freemanism to anyone who will listen. Kiel clearly has both ears open. Unfortunately for him, he may have nothing in between those ears to trap the words that Freeman is saying anyway.
  • Tommy Cartel and Xeriyous Blade are on a serious roll already in 2004. Blade was very quick to cash in his Uprising chips when the year kicked off. He saw that the foundation of The Uprising had been seriously damaged at Re-Awakening 2003. They had always been seen as unmovable. But Team EPW proved that they could move the Uprising by using their own tactic of divide and conquer against them. When Blade moved on he wanted to form an alliance with a wrestler who had not been beaten. He knew that that wrestler could go on an undefeated streak, they would be much stronger as a team. Blade knows that wrestling is made up of equal physical and mental challenges. “The simple fact is that Tommy Cartel has not been defeated,” Blade said, “That fact will play on the mind of every wrestler he will face in the future. If noone else has taken this big man down, then how the hell can I. The answer is simple, they can’t”. If anyone else were saying this, it may not be taken quite as seriously. But Xeriyous Blade ruled this federation for 12 months. He has a knack for backing up his promises. Cartel holds wins over Shane Haste, Richter and now the Vagrant. Jimmy Payne needs to return to action ASAP. Because if he takes too long, Cartel will be an unstoppable force when he returns.
  • Speaking of Jimmy Payne, he was present before Black Friday but said that he could not stand to be there and not be fit to wrestle. “The back is starting to come right,” Jimmy commented, “But I have no idea how long it will be before I will be back in action. But whenever I do return, there can be absolutely no doubt that I will be gunning for Cartel.” I, THE INSIDER, believe that fit or not, Jimmy Payne will be back sooner rather than later. He is itching to get back to competition and more importantly is still looking to get his hands on Cartel and Blade.
  • GST were upset after their loss to The Serial Thrillers and Shane Haste. ‘It wasn’t fair,” Chris Lazareth said after the match. “They cheated for the whole of the match. I mean most of our eliminations came from double team situations.” What Lazareth forgot to mention was that it was his team that instigated most of those all in brawl situations. “We want those tag team titles,” added BobbyBadBlood , “I’m sick of losing. People keep laughing at us. We’re going to do something that will shock EPW and will shock the hell out of the Serial Thrillers. And then we’ll take their tag team titles”. Easier said than done BBB. The Thrillers have looked sensational in the last 6 months. But with Brad West going after the EPW title at Animosity, it might be the perfect time for GST to strike.
  • Devlin Reeves is looking to be back in action within 3-4 months. I, THE INSIDER, did not get to catch up with Devlin, nor did I see the attack from the Brat Pack. Reports say that his leg was broken before Psychofett arrived at the arena. An unfortunate occurrence as Devlo-Fett were set to wrestle for the tag team titles at Animosity. I will keep you all updated on this situation.
  • The last word on this article will go to Davis Storm. “I was so close,” he said after his match with Jag. “I’m not going to make excuses. He beat me to the point where I had to give up. I am not feeling great at the moment but I will be back. I promised the StormTroopers that I would once again wear the EPW title and I will do everything I can to make sure that happens.” What about the Mikey situation? Why did Mikey get Yakuza kicked after he seemingly saved Storm from a further beating? “It was a misunderstanding. I was struck from behind by the chair. When I came to, Mikey was the one holding the chair. Unfortunate for him. Let’s face facts, he wasn’t there to save me. He was there to get his hands on Jag. And I haven’t forgiven all the crap he put me through last year. I could Yakuza kick him all year long and we still wouldn’t be even.” Anyone think that there may be more to this story before the year is out?

That is all the inside goss from me, THE INSIDER.
