EPW News & Rumours
31/03/04 - INSIDE Animosity
Well well. Another event has come and gone. But what would an event be without a post event recap from me, THE INSIDER. What I want to do this time is take a look at the REAL winners and losers from Animosity.

First let’s take a look at the wrestlers who gained the most from Animosty.

AZAZAL
There can be no doubt that the ‘Fallen Angel’ walked away from Animosity as one of the biggest winners. He not only avenged his loss to Mikey from Out of the Ashes, he showed all in EPW that he will be a force to be reckoned with. There was a question mark hanging over his head. Many including myself, THE INSIDER, thought that he would become lost in the shuffle after breaking away from The Uprising. But he has now proven with this victory that he will not fade into the background. Instead, he should continue to be a big time player for some time to come.

THE GENETICALLY SUPERIOR TEAM
With BobbyBadBlood defeating Justin Sane, the GST has shot up into tag team title contention. This team is finally starting to show signs of becoming worthy of wearing the tag team gold. As singles wrestlers, they were once the laughing stock of EPW. But since coming together as a team, they individually hold singles victories over Shane Haste and Justin Sane. I, THE INSIDER, predict that GST will be the next team to get a title shot at the Serial Thrillers. And they may just go in as the favourites. With Brad West being distracted by his attempts to become the EPW champion, GST may prove that a champion team will always overcome a team of champions. Thrillers beware.

BROCK FREEMAN
I, the INSIDER, predict that it will indeed be a big year for the Order of Freemanism. ‘The American Nightmare’ has finally captured his prize recruit. With his victory at Animosity, Freeman has taken control of Shane Haste’s future. With a young lion like Haste at his disposal, Brock will become a bigger player here in EPW as the year goes on. When I spoke to Brock after the event, he had some interesting comments. I asked him what he thought about his huge win. “The Order of Freemanism is not about winning or losing,” he growled, “It is about making an impact that will be felt by all. It is about creating chaos and anarchy where there is none. Everyone will feel the shock that the Order of Freemanism will send through this federation.”

These are the only 3 men that I, THE INSIDER, can clearly deem as winners from Animosity. The list of losers is long. And painful.

THE BRAT PACK
Although FN Carnage managed to retain the EPW title, Animosity was not a happy time for those in the Brat camp. Jamie Jurah was defeated by Psychofett. Devlin Reeves returned and is preparing to dispense some revenge upon them all. Slick Rick Sanders took a Ryhypnol Spike from Justin Sane. And FN Carnage accepted a challenge before finding out that the challenge came from an Australian wrestling icon in Lobo. The two most worrying points would have to be Devlin Reeves return and Lobo. Lobo for obvious reasons. The title is in more jeopardy than it has possibly ever been. Lobo would have to enter this match as a red-hot favourite. But Devlin’s return is a threat for a reason that may not be obvious to some. His return causes concern because of the timing. FN Carnage will now have to fight on Night 1 and 2 of Evolution 2004. It is more the distraction that Reeves is causing that is a headache to the Brat Pack, than any actual threat he may pose. The Brats had better come into Evolution with a great battle plan. Or else I, THE INSIDER, predict that Lobo will be leaving with the gold.

DEVLIN REEVES
At Animosity, Devlin hobbled out to help his tag team partner Psychofett, which was noble. But it was also galactically stupid. He could have been permanently shelved if not for Psychofett. A man on crutches should be nowhere near a wrestling ring. I, THE INSIDER, can understand Reeve’s anger. But he may have bitten off a little more than he can chew at Evolution. He has just invited the former tag team champions to take a shot at him with a leg that may not be 100%. And Carnage will be in no mood to mess around on Night 1. He may very well end Reeves for good. Devlin mentioned that he has a massive surprise in store for the Brat Pack. I, THE INSIDER, hope that’s it’s a bloody good surprise. For his sake.

DAVIS STORM
Storm must have been praying that Brad West would take home the title at Animosty. That would have improved his chances of getting a title shot in the near future. But with Carnage still holding the gold, it appears that a match for the EPW title is not on Storm’s horizon. What concerns I, THE INSIDER, is Storm’s decision to help get Lobo over to Perth to challenge for the EPW title. Would a champion from another state really help his cause to have a shot at the EPW title? Or would it simply make it harder to get a title shot? Not a wise decision Mr Storm.

THE SERIAL THRILLERS
Not a good night for the tag team champions. Justin Sane was pinned by a man he had beaten on three previous occasions. And Brad West lost the biggest match of his career to FN Carnage. It would have been a great experience for Brad to wrestle for the EPW Title. But how much has that shot hurt this tag team? They should be riding high as the EPW tag team champions right now. Instead they are at their lowest point since becoming a tag team some 12 months ago. I, THE INSIDER, implore them to focus. The tag team titles should be their priority. It wasn’t FN Carnage’s priority when he was a tag team champion and the Thrillers dethroned him before he knew it. Brad has an obligation to himself and his partner to set his sights on being part of the greatest tag team in EPW. This team needs to be the like the Road Warriors. Not Shawn Michaels and whatever his name is.

SHANE HASTE
I, THE INSIDER, expect Shane’s career to be sacrificed by Brock Freeman to further his own future. I hope Shane’s positive outlook can keep that smile on his face. He’s going to need it.

MIKEY
The ‘Rising Star’ fell to Azazal at Animosity. He put up a brave fight. He actually left ‘The Fallen Angel’ looking a lot worse than he did. But the cold hard truth is that he lost. The break up of the Uprising has not been kind to Mikey. At Black Friday, he was assaulted by Jag, Azazal and the Brat Pack. He was subjected to the sort of three on one beating that he was used to dishing out as a member of the Uprising. Then at Animosity, he could not put Azazal away. He seemed on the verge of winning the match on so many occasions. But could not finish it. I, THE INSIDER, am accusing you, Mikey, of being a choke artist. That may sound harsh but I believe it to be true. You had a shot at the EPW title, and lost. Your team lost the biggest match in EPW history at Re-Awakening 2003. And now you lost to your former best friend who turned his back on you. Surely you didn’t have to search long or hard to find the motivation to beat a man who betrayed you. It is time for Mikey to stand up and be accountable. He must stand on his own and win when it matters most. Or else he may find himself on another list of losers in a column written by I, THE INSIDER.
