EPW News & Rumours
20/05/06 - The return of THE INSIDER

Well. You thought I, the INSIDER, had disappeared. Although you may not have heard from me in some time, I , the INISIDER, am never far from the pulse of Perth wrestling. With Evolution on the horizon, it is time for my thoughts on some current issues in EPW. And maybe even a little ‘inside’ goss.

*****Does anyone else get the feeling that this Forefathers versus the new generation feud is only just getting started? Many thought that the when GST beat Nate Dooley and Davis Storm at Settling the Score that the Forefathers would just wilt away. But rather than go into their shells it seems that they are redoubling their efforts to ‘take back’ EPW. My attempts to talk to the Forefathers about this have proven difficult. Nate Dooley simply told me that what he said at Sudden Impact would prove to be an accurate prediction. I, the INISDER, feel that EPW is yet to feel the full wrath of a fired up Forefathers unit and would be foolish to discount them. You can not take lightly a group that features two former EPW champions, a man who once ran EPW, a former chairman and one of the greatest wrestler in Australian wrestling history. Whether or not Nate Dooley’s prophecy becomes fulfilled will be known after Evolution.

*****The search for GST’s opponents for their Australia wide open challenge continues. With so many great wrestlers all over this country the search has not been a easy one. Damien Slater is returning to EPW at Evolution and is trying to find a tag partner to challenge for the belts. There has also been considerable interest from wrestler in both Sydney and Melbourne. I, the INSIDER, predict that whoever it is GST will certainly have found themselves the challenge they were after. But CJL says they are ready for whoever comes their way. “Last year was a huge challenge for Bobby and myself. But with my foot back to 100% we’ve met every obstacle head on in 2006 and whoever steps up at Evolution better be ready for a fight.”

*****The situation between Mikey and Shane Haste appears to be heating up. We all heard what Mikey had to say to Shane at Sudden Impact and his comments were certainly controversial. “I didn’t mean to blast the fans, I was just fired up,” the former EPW champion said, “And I still am. These young guys have to learn that you have to take advantage of every opportunity you get. A shot at the EPW championship should not be taken for granted. Shane cost himself the chance of a lifetime just so he could show off. Well that’s fine but when he cost me my chance of regaining my belt then I felt like something needed to be said.” There can be no doubt that Mikey has been a changed wrestler since returning from LA. I, the INSIDER, believe that having experienced wrestling at the top level, he now knows what he needs to do to make it and will not compromise himself for anyone. I tried to contact Shane for comment but he said he had nothing to say to Mikey at this point.

*****And lastly, Tommy Cartel has returned from his leg injury and scored a good win over Justin Sane at the latest EPW Goldmembers show. But now that he has returned, he must face his mentor, FN Carnage at Evolution. “Here is a young man who has more potential than possibly anyone in EPW,” said Carnage of his protégé, “But potential is nothing if it goes unfulfilled. And in our sport, talent alone means nothing. You need determination, passion and heart. Tommy hasn’t shown any of those attributes in his three years in EPW. It’s time he either steps up and shows some heart or gets the hell out of the way for the young guys who do have it.” Cartel’s refusal to wrestle while injured earlier this year set something off in his trainer. And now at Evolution Cartel must defeat Carnage if he wishes to continue being trained by the former EPW champion. I, the INSIDER, think that Tommy has the ability to defeat his mentor. He is a big, strong and agile young man who has shown flashes of brilliance over the past few years. But he will need more than that to beat Carnage who has done it all in EPW. He will need heart.

Well that is all people. That is all the news that I, the INSIDER, see fit to print. See you all at Evolution.
