25/05/06 - Inside the Evolution Battle Royale

Now a lot of BIG matches are set for both nights of Evolution. We have the EPW championship match between Havok and Jimmy Payne. This lumberjack match is for all the marbles. GST have issued an Australia wide open challenge to their EPW tag team titles. Shane Haste and Damien Slater will do battle for the second spot into the Invitational Tournament semi finals.

But amongst all this is a match that I, THE INSIDER, think could change the fortunes of any wrestler in Explosive Pro Wrestling. The winner’s choice battle royale.

This is a battle royale to be held on night 2 with the winner being able to select any match they want for Hell or Highwater. This match could have massive implications. Although all the participants have not been named yet, let’s take a look at who has.

Damien Slater, AZ Vegara, James Street, The European Union and Justin Sane.

I see a list of guys who would all want very different things if they were fortunate enough to win the battle royale. Slater is in a Invitational tournament qualifier on Night 1 but if he should win this it means that he could leapfrog the Invitational and score himself an EPW title match immediately.

The European Union would have a similar goal. If either of them can win the match, they could forgo the formalities of qualifying as #1 contenders to the tag team titles. Another title match would be there’s for the taking.

AZ Vegara would be a tad sneakier I, THE INSIDER, suspect. He has a big singles match against Chris Vice at Hell or Highwater. Instead of taking a match himself, he could force Vice to face one of the Forefathers earlier in the night. Or maybe face Richter. This would leave Vice already badly beaten going into his match with AZ.

Justin Sane is the best example of this match being able to change someone’s fortunes. He badly wants to stay in the Forefathers but if he loses his next two single’s matches, he will be out on his butt. If he wins the battle royale, he could simply select someone like Jay Taylor as his next opponent which would greatly increase his chances of winning and staying in the Forefathers.

So this is no ordinary battle royale. These men will be desperate for a win and will do whatever it takes to hang on and be the last one standing. Their very futures could depend on it. But that’s just the view of I, THE INSIDER. See you at Evolution.
