EPW News & Rumours
18/08/06 - INSIDE High Stakes

Yes yes. It is I, THE INSIDER. This article was scheduled to be about the going ons of High Stakes. And it will be. But it will be a little more specific than that. It will be about the impact that the Forefathers caused backstage on the weekend.

After the night was over I, THE INSIDER, went and spoke to a few EPW wrestlers and officials about the situation.

“That was a horrible night for us,” said an unnamed backstage official. “The entire night was thrown into chaos by the Forefather’s actions. And Burbank let his temper get the better of him. The Forefathers have now proven that they can manipulate a senior official by goading him into action.”

The official went on, “Not only that but they won at the end of the night. Jack thought he had one upped them but at the end of the day, they walked away with the gold. This whole situation has made them more dangerous than ever because they now believe that noone can touch them.”

I, THE INSIDER, then had a chat to the Captain of the Young Guns, Chris J Lazareth. He was still in considerable pain but his temper had cooled and he was keen to try and make sense of the whole situation.

“I blame myself,” CJL said, “For starters I should have never agreed to captain the team when I didn’t have 100% trust in one of the members. As a team we should have approached the Board and had AZ thrown off the team before the night.”

“But after my leg was injured, I just snapped and made a reckless decision that cost us the match. We were dressed but we weren’t in the correct mind frame as we were expecting to wrestle at the end of the night. The Forefathers had pre-meditated the whole situation and were ready for exactly what we threw at them.”

Word has it that a few members of the young brigade in EPW were more than a little miffed at being left off the team as well. Most notably, Michael Morleone.

“Those idiots on the Board and CJL left me off the team and they paid for it,” Morleone said. “I showed what I could do tonight. I beat a wrestler who has been here from the start. The European Union are sick of being passed over.”

Let’s not mince words here. People can make excuses for the Young Guns. BobbyBadBlood and Tommy Cartel would have been sure thing selections for this team, if not for injury and absence, but a shortage of talent wasn’t the problem on the night. It was a lack of foresight and planning from both the Board and the team.

Quite simply, everyone has underestimated the Forefathers. People expected them to roll over and play dead. I, THE INSIDER, think that the people who believe this had better look back at the history of this federation.

This group of men is made up of the ELITE of professional wrestling in this country. Jimmy Payne is a two time EPW champion and the first ever EPW Invitational tournament winner. Davis Storm is the very first EPW champion in history and a two time EPW tag team champion. Jag is one half of the current EPW tag team champions and is arguably the most talented wrestler this country has ever produced. And Nate Dooley and Xeriyous Blade are original members of the Explosive Coastal Wrestling roster who both know what it is like to control this federation while holding the power of the chairman of the EPW Board of Directors.

EPW wrestlers and officials. WAKE UP!! You expect them to just fade away? That is the exact reason they believe they are fighting you in the first place. The Forefathers were formed because they believed that the younger generation of wrestler were receiving preferential treatment and that officials were trying to squeeze them out of the main event picture in EPW.

Whether or not what they believe is true is completely irrelevant at this point. They are running wild and it will take a united stand from the remains of the roster to put up any resistance to this force. Wrestlers and officials alike must put their egos aside and show these men that they can fight the psychological war as well as the physical one.

And to the men who can, they had better dig their heels in and prepare for a prolonged assault. Because the Forefathers certainly will be.

And that is all the news from I, THE INSIDER.
