Azazal vs Davis Storm
If you want a battle that epitomises the change in five
years of EPW, this is it. 3 years after the most dramatic
battle in EPW history, these two men will meet at a
RE-AWAKENING yet again.
To many watchers, this match came about quite simply. Azazal
was one of the three original Awakening wrestlers who teamed
up against the Forefathers for a shot at EPW gold at High
Stakes. Davis Storm returned the favour at Boiling Point by
interfering in the #1 contender’s Gauntlet Match and costing
Azazal his shot at the EPW champion, Jimmy Payne.
Sounds so simple.
But this isn’t about titles or revenge. It’s about the
balance of nature. Ying and Yang. Now you really are
confused.
Ying and Yang are completely opposite. But they can’t exist
without each other. Davis Storm & Azazal are exactly the
same.
Their philosophies change to contradict the other. Storm was
a fan favourite while Azazal despised them for all they were
worth. Slowly Storm’s starts to turn his back on his
supporters and just like that, Azazal becomes a crowd
favourite.
Azazal was the biggest piece of the puzzle when the Uprising
took control of EPW. Davis Storm was their biggest
antagonist as he wrested that control back.
Davis Storm now leads a team that is trying to destroy the
future of Explosive Pro Wrestling. Despite all the changes,
he again finds himself face to face with the same foe.
Co-incidence?
In a word, NO.
Like said previously, Ying needs Yang to survive. Make no
mistake, despite being bitter enemies, these two are
sensational in the ring together. They drive each other to
heights that they simply can not attain against other
opponents. Their greatest moment have come opposite each
other.
Quite simply, they need each other. Their need to fight each
other drives them back together no matter how illogical the
situation is. For God’s sake, Azazal was the most hated man
in EPW for 4 and a half years and the only thing that has
turned his attitude was a chance to battle ‘The Ironman’.
They have had two singles matches in the past with Azazal
taking the win at Hell or Highwater 2003 and Storm squaring
it up in an NWA Australia ring in Adelaide in 2004.
Their RE-AWAKENING records are quite incredible. Azazal has
the sort of win/loss record that you would expect. In 2002
he defeated the Vagrant for control of EPW. He pinned James
Street in 2004 and outlasted FN Carnage in EPW’s first ever
cage match in 2005.
Davis Storm is the complete opposite. Storm has only ever
won one match at RE-AWAKENING! But that match was the six
man street fight from RE-AWAKENING 2003. As fate would have
it, that win was over the ‘Fallen Angel’ Azazal.
I, THE INSIDER, said that “To many watchers, this match came
about quite simply.” It wasn’t simple. It was simply
destiny. And at RE-AWAKENING V on November 4th, one man’s
destiny will be fulfilled. |
