Jag & Havok.
To anyone who has followed Australian wrestling for more
than five minutes, you almost can’t say one name without
saying the other.
Since the very beginning, their careers have been entwined.
They started training at the same time under the tutelage of
Col Dervany in Adelaide in 1998. They debuted against each
other in Pro Wrestling South Australia in 1999. In their
very first match they managed to win the fan voted
Australian Match of the Year for 1999.
Since that time they have battled with each other time and
time again. But they have also been an amazing and cohesive
team at times.
They debuted in EPW as a team at the Mark Has Been Made to
face then (and current) EPW champion, Jimmy Payne and Davis
Storm. That match is still being talked about today in EPW
circles. It was the single match that put EPW on the
national wrestling radar.
They returned many times as a team until Havok decided that
his quest for the EPW championship took priority and turned
his back on Jag. But that deed would not go unpunished.
Jag stewed and waited until he could cause Havok the most
possible damage. In one night he single-handedly took the
EPW championship from around Havok’s waist and almost ended
the career of Havok’s long time valet and partner, Anella.
These two men have been responsible for some of the most
sensational matches in Australian wrestling history. But
they have never gone one on one in an EPW ring.
By attacking Anella, Jag has seized the psychological edge
from his former partner. But in doing so, he appears to have
unleashed the monster inside Havok which has seen him
destroy all who have got in his way in the past 9 years.
Havok decimated Davis Storm at the last event. Storm is a
former EPW champion, a current tag team champion and the
only man in Australian wrestling history to win a one hour
Ironman match. Havok just brushed him aside and Boiling
Point and now noone is standing in his path to get to Jag.
But Havok will be dealing with a more confident Jag than he
ever has encountered in the past. In the past 12 months Jag
has trained at the Inoki dojo in Los Angeles and travelled
to Japan to face two of New Japan’s toughest competitors.
There is no doubting that contest between Jag and Havok will
result in one of the finest wrestling matches EPW has ever
witnessed. The only question is who will be left standing
when the bell rings at the end of the match. |
