Brad West vs Richter
Wrestling’s classic battle. The crafty small man against the
dominating giant.
As incredible as it seems, after 5 long years of EPW, these
two men have never wrestled each other before this match.
There is no real issue between the two men involved in this
match.
The real issue appears to be between Brad West and Jack
Burbank. The two have been on icy cold terms since Burbank
fired West from the commentary table at Evolution.
When West injured his leg at Hell or Highwater in 2005, he
was offered a spot at the commentary table by Burbank with
the strict proviso that he never lay his hand on an EPW
wrestler while functioning as a commentator.
Leap forward to Evolution 2006, Night 1. Jimmy Payne is
tearing the show apart by attacking wrestler after wrestler.
One of the men he attacks is James Street. West hopped into
the ring to help James to his feet. In his dazed state,
Street pushed West which resulted in West roughing him up.
Burbank immediately reminded West of the conditions of his
position at the commentary table and proceeded to fire him.
Brad returned fire by slapping Jack in the face.
Since his return to wrestling, the ‘All Star’ has gone out
of his way to antagonise Burbank. He has even become a hired
gun for the Forefathers who he had battled on numerous
occasions. It appears that West is living by the phrase ‘The
enemy of my enemy is my friend’, and there is no doubt that
Brad sees Burbank as the enemy.
So Brad clearly sees Richter as a pawn that Burbank is using
in order to gain vengeance on him.
But West had better think a little harder. Richter is more
than a pawn on the EPW chess board.
Although his size and strength is his most obvious weapon,
he has shown that underestimating his ability to use his
mind as a weapon can cost an opponent dearly. He was able to
capture the EPW championship by out thinking Mikey over the
course of a few months. His strategy was flawless.
While West thinks that he is the most important player in
this game against Burbank, he should not look past the giant
that stands before him. His next move had better a stroke of
genius or come November 4th, he may just find himself a
loser. Check Mate. |
