EPW News & Rumours
16/03/09 - MARSHALL VS STORM The INSIDE Look

GOLDRUSH 2

That’s right. The return of I, THE INSIDER, coincides with one of the biggest EPW championship matches in recent history. The champion, Davis Storm, laid out the challenge to Bobby Marshall to forget about his recent problems and bring his best to GOLDRUSH to compete for the EPW title.

Although Storm may be talking himself up as Bobby’s guardian angel, you can bet that this match has more to do with his legacy as champion than returning Marshall to his former glory.

Davis Storm is universally considered to be one of EPW’s finest. But his record with the EPW championship could not be considered to match his reputation. The names Payne, Nicholls, Carnage and Marshall have all had more impressive championship reigns than the Ironman’s. He has dedicated himself to eradicate memories of his past failures with a memorable title run in 2009.

He knows he will never be the champion he wants to be until he gets a clean pinfall victory over the former champion Bobby Marshall.

No single wrestler in EPW holds a better record against Storm than Marshall. Their first singles match in 2005 resulted in Bobby walking away with the win. They fought over the EPW tag team titles in January of 2006 with Marshall’s ‘Genetically Superior Team’ winning the belts in a hard fought tables match.

They fought out a 30 minute draw in an NWA Australian championship qualifying match in mid 2007 before Marshall went on to defeat the Ironman in the first round of the tournament.

This may come as a huge surprise to most but Davis Storm has never been able to pin Bobby Marshall in a high profile singles match without outside interference.

Storm holds two huge wins over Bobby, namely at Road to Glory and RE-AWAKENING last year. But the first came after Jamie Jurah nailed Marshall with the EPW championship and the second came when Storm was able to escape the cage before his two opponents. He didn’t have to pin or submit either of his opponents.

This match will be one for the ages. Both men have a point to prove and are both known for being at their very best when the gauntlet is being thrown at their feet.

Who do I, THE INSIDER, expect to win?

Anything less than the performance of a lifetime from the Ironman, will see us crowning a new EPW champion. Mark my words.
