We all know that in professional wrestling, the real winners
aren’t the ones who leave the ring with their hands held
high in victory. So to help you out, I, THE INSIDER, am here
to evaluate who left Hell or Highwater as a true winner.
WINNERS
TEAM ALL STAR
Two wins in two huge matches and this team is hitting form
at the right time of year. With RE-AWAKENING just around the
corner, both Sebastian Sander and Michael Morleone are
putting their best foot forward. Sander has shown tremendous
growth as a wrestler in 2009 despite not tasting a great
amount of success. Depending on his draw in the semi finals,
he is sitting pretty to book himself a place in the final.
No matter how cheap and underhanded, Morleone’s victory in
the I Quit Match with Jose Del Santo is the biggest singles
win of his career thus far. Morleone has been reborn in Team
All Star and could be one to watch in EPW.
JONATHON WIMBLEDON / CHRIS VICE
For the past four years, Jonathon Wimbledon has stood behind
two of the biggest men in EPW and run his mouth. With noone
left to protect him, Wimbledon stood to cop plenty of
beatings for sins past. But he showed that he is as shrewd
as he is cowardly by bringing Chris Vice back as his
protection from all that would be out for his blood. For
Vice, Wimbledon offered an avenue back into EPW and now that
he’s back, Wimbledon’s mouth may be harder to control than
ever.
ALEX KINGSTON
Alex Kingston’s stock has risen dramatically this year as he
and his mentor, Shane Haste, have engaged in an epic feud
over the EPW tag team titles with Dan Moore and Chase
Griffin. But many have asked the question of how Kingston
would fare without Shane there to call the shots. On
Saturday, Kingston was informed that his scheduled partner,
Kiel Steria, would be unavailable to compete. Kingston found
himself a tag team partner and went about beating the
Schmidt Brothers along with Ferguson Block. Although Block
is an extremely experienced wrestler, Kingston proved that
he does not need Shane Haste by his side to be a success in
EPW. Kudos.
LOSERS
THE BLACKEST HOUR
They may have escaped with the EPW championship but this new
brotherhood already has huge problems on their hands. In the
main event, Bobby Marshall dismantled this intimidating
group with aggression and fierce determination. His refusal
to back down and never say die attitude seemed to catch all
three member of the Hour off guard. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
These are three of the most experienced men to ever step
foot in an EPW ring and they got caught napping in the fight
of their lives. They were pre-occupied playing mind games
with Jamie Jurah and Jose Del Santo to give Bobby Marshall
the respect he deserves and almost paid for their
foolishness with the EPW championship. With Marshall and
Jurah both hot on Richter’s tail, these three may be going
through their own Blackest Hour if they don’t get their
heads in the game quickly.
DAN MOORE
How could a man who finds himself in the Invitational
Tournament semi finals be considered a loser? By betraying
his team mate to do so. Chase Griffin and Dan Moore were the
most unlikely tag team champions when they won the gold at
EVOLUTION 2008. But through hard work, they proved that
their worth was greater than the sum of their parts. Alone,
they were cannon fodder. But together they were a
championship team. On Saturday, Moore saw an opportunity and
acted without hesitation. It’s unlikely he meant Griffin any
harm but the fact is he stepped on his closest friend to get
himself ahead. Trust is a huge part of any team’s success
and Moore may have just lost the confidence of his closest
ally.
AZ VEGARA
Just three months ago, Vegara was riding high on a winning
streak that was the envy of most in EPW. Today he
contemplates another loss to JT in another high profile
match. Vegara let is be known that he was gunning for his
former partner earlier this year but his ego has proven to
be his downfall as JT has not only beaten AZ, he has sapped
him of his confidence. If Vegara doesn’t get back in the
winner’s column soon, he may find that Amber’s interest in
his career vaporizes as quickly as his winning streak.
So there it is. Another Hell or Highwater over and plenty of
food for thoughts provided to you from behind the curtain by
I, THE INSIDER.
