04/11/03 - Dancin' Lukey's Unofficial End-of-year Awards
Well voting has closed for this years EPW end of year awards, So before the results are made official at Re-Awakening next weekend I though I would continue the tradition of giving you Dancin Lukey’s picks for the best of the best in EPW for 2003!

Rookie of the year 2003:

This for me was the toughest to decide. Frankly there have been some awesome wrestlers that have emerged throughout the past 12 months in EPW. I am talking the likes of Bobby Bad Blood, Chris J Lazareth, Kyle E-lectrifying… The list goes on! However it came down to two stand out talents in my opinion this year and the winner is none other than…

Winner: Shane Haste: Shane haste has come a long way in a short amount of time! He has scored some impressive victories and more importantly showed incredible promise of big things to come in the EPW ring!

Runner Up: Devlin Reves: Despite the fact that Devlin spends a lot of his ring time in EPW being laughed at the truth is he is one of the most talented guys to come up through the Dynamite training factory. If only he focused more and didn’t slap me at the last show he may have earned the title of “Dancin Lukey’s rookie of the year”

Most Improved:

Again this year I don’t think there is a single wrestler in EPW who hasn’t improved over the past 12 months… However some have improved more than others…

Winner: Psychofett. Much like his opponent at Re-Awakening this year Psychofett can have a problem with not being taken seriously. However this year after a vicious feud with Brock Freeman culminating in Psychofett scoring a victory of Freeman in EPW’s first ever Lumberjack match Psychofett showed us he is a force to be reckoned with and has a bright future.

Runner Up: Mikey: Another man who had a hot year. He tore through opponent after opponent… just a shame he is always taking orders from Azazal and Blade… if he went out on his own he could have a very good shot at being the EPW champion.

Guest Commentator of the year:

Yeah I know this isn’t a category that everyone can vote on but we have a lot of guests come through and some are better than others and need that recognition.

Winner: Psychofett: “Boom-Shaka-laka” Need I say any more!!!

Runner Up: (tie) Tino & Phil from Sledgehammer of Justice wrestling radio. A pleasure to have the guys over lets just hope they return sometime in the near future for another EPW show.

Event of the year:

Winner: Evil Intentions: so many good matches to talk about so little time, How about Mixer vs. Azazal, Jimmy Payne vs. CJL, Brock Freeman vs. Justin Sane, Richter vs. Jamie Jurah, Mikey vs. Brad West, Devlin Reeves vs. Psychofett and the ultimate main event of Davis Storm vs. Damian Kross… too good for words!!! Buy this video if you haven’t seen it… you wont regret it!!!

Runner up: Out of Control: With matches like, The Uprising, The Brat Pack and Chopper Colman V Davis Storm, Jimmy Payne, The Vagrant and The Serial Thrillas and Justin Sanes classic bout with FN Carnage just to name a few this would have been the perfect show had Azazal not knocked my head off with a chair at the conclusion.

Comeback of the year:

Winner: The Vagrant. He was defeated for the chairmanship of EPW by Azazal and had to take some leave to recover from the beating he received. However he returned more determined than ever and has been on the hottest streak of his career! I am just hoping he is still fired up enough to lead team EPW to victory at Re-awakening next week!!!

Runner up: Davis Storm: Despite a car accident Davis Storm returned to EPW despite not being 100% and continued to give it his all! You have to admire the courage of former champ Davis Storm!!!

Match of the year:

Winner: Davis Storm & Jimmy Payne vs. Jag and Havok (Mark has been Made 2003)
Only way to describe this match is WOW! The only way this could have been any more perfect is if EPW’s boys Davis Storm and Jimmy Payne weren’t screwed out of a victory!!

Runner Up: Davis Storm vs. Damian Kross (Evil Intentions 2003) A match with more emotion and excellence then I have ever witnessed in my life. Two amazing athletes took it to another level this night and following the match Damian Kross made the announcement this was his final match in EPW. I can’t help but hope and Kross my fingers he will be back someday though!!

Wrestler of the year:

This was very tough to pick. In the end I had to ignore my emotions and go with the statistics… When you look at the win loss record there is only one wrestler who can be considered for this prestigious honour:

Winner: FN Carnage: I Hate to say it but Invitational champ, Tag Champ, Heavyweight Champ all in the span of one year… This guy has done it all and then some.

Runner Up: Davis Storm: With the match of the year and runner up match of the year under his belt it’s hard to ignore the one and only Davis Storm! What more can I say but it’s only a matter of time before this talented wrestler has gold back around his waist!

Of course the OFFICIAL awards will all be announced at the pre-show of Re-awakening November 15th live at the Wanneroo Showgrounds… I hope to see you there. I’m Dancin Lukey Of course that’s just my opinion… I could be wrong!!!
