Mikey Nicholls Strikes Gold in the USA

At Evolution 2007, EPW farwelled one of its favourite sons in Mikey Nicholls. Five and a half years of hard work had seen Mikey rise to the top of Explosive Pro Wrestling and after several short stints in America, Nicholls decided that in order to further his career, a move was necessary.

In his previous trips, Nicholls had a minimal impact on the Southern Californian wrestling scene. His trips were more about training hard and gaining valuable knowledge than making a big name for himself.

But when moving to sunny California, it became obvious to Mikey that he would have to change his approach this time. All the training on his past ventures were to prepare him for this moment where he finally felt prepared for a full scale assault on the independent wrestling scene in America.

And after four short months, he has made his first significant impact. On Friday 7th of Spetember, Nicholls defeated Karl ‘The Machine Gun’ Anderson & EWF cruiserweight champion Ryan Taylor in a three way 30 minute Ironman match to become the Empire Wrestling Federation American Champion.

EPW would like to extend its heartiest congratulations to one of its original alumni, Mikey Nicholls. With a bit of luck, we hope Mikey can return to us in November for the NWA Australian Championship Tournament with the gold still around his waist.
