Shane Haste vs Brock Freeman
Both men were desperate for a win with the loser of this bout set to become the other’s protégé. This match was action packed from bell to bell with both men for a quick win. Haste was on fire early on as he hit Freeman with a variety of moves including an incredible swinging DDT on the floor of the Wanneroo Community Centre. Freeman turned back to mat wrestling to establish an advantage. Once he had, he tried to outpoint Haste at his own game with a 2nd rope moonsault to the outside. Shane responded with an amazing satellite scissors around the ringpost. Both men seemed to turn it up a gear, as they became more frantic about securing the win. Freeman once again proved to be a hypocrite by using the same highflying offense that he criticised Haste for. An amazing 450 bodypress to the outside was an example of this. Haste’s inexperience costs his dearly in the end. After hitting his frog splash, he refused to pin Freeman. He wanted to teach Brock a lesson for everything that he had put him through. But it was Shane instead who was taught the lesson as Freeman hit the ‘American Nightmare’ and followed up with a frog splash of his own for the 1-2-3.
With that loss, Shane became Brock’s protégé. Freeman laughed maniacally knowing that he had finally achieved his goal of becoming Shane’s mentor. Exactly what lies ahead for Haste is anyone’s guest.
