This was the Forefathers last chance to
take a crack at Mikey before RE-AWAKENING. The spectre of Jag hung
over this match as the bell rang to start the match. This was a
typical Jimmy Payne match, hard hitting from start to finish.
But this drew out the best in Mikey who was at his best, going toe
to toe with one of the toughest in this federation. They traded
holds and moves with neither man able to hold the ascendancy for any
length of time.
The EPW champion hit a tremendous sunset bomb which singled the end
for Payne. The ‘Rising Star’ went up top for the shooting star, when
suddenly Jag’s music started to play. Both Mikey and the referee
looked towards the entrance way. This allowed Blade to push Mikey
off the top rope, as Jimmy rolled him up for the surprise three
count.
