Gauntlet Match for #1 contenders spot at Re-Awakening
With the title shot and main event at Re-Awakening at stake, this match was always going to be a dog fight. It started with Jamie Jurah taking on Richter. With his new tag team partner, Devlin Reeves at ringside, Jurah was cocky as usual. He slapped the big man repeatedly before having Richter boot him straight out of the ring. Jamie tried to cut the big man down by beating on his leg. But in the end, Richter was too big and strong and put Jamie away with a massive lariat.

Richter then awaited his next opponent who turned out to be the ‘Fallen Angel’ Azazal. These two fought at Evolution 2004 but this match turned out to be a more desperate encounter than their last one. Azazal tried to exploit the weakness in the legs as Jamie had softened Richter up a little. But this served to further aggravate the big man as he drilled Azazal with a thunderous powerbomb. Azazal fought back and hit his ‘Fallen Angel’ finisher only to see Richter gets his foot to the rope before the three. Azazal’s frustration hurt him as he walked straight into Richter’s Impaler (chokeslam backbreaker) for the 1-2-3.

Azazal went berserk after the loss and it took two referees to convince him to leave the ringside area. As the referees escorted him out, FN Carnage entered the ring from behind and knocked Richter out cold with the EPW Title belt. Tommy Cartel was the next man in and he simply entered the ring and pinned the unconscious Richter.

The last opponent would prove to be no pushover for Cartel. The crowd went nuts as Mikey headed to the ring to try and grab his chance at the EPW title. Both men seemed to have the match won numerous times before seeing the other kick out time and time again. Xeriyous Blade was lurking at ringside and didn’t hesitate to get involved. A Mikey kick put Cartel down but could only keep him there for a two count. Mikey tried to put him away with a top rope huracanrana but wound up on the receiving end of a massive 2nd rope blue thunder. But even that couldn’t keep Mikey down. A miscommunication between Blade and Cartel took Blade out of the picture before Mikey nailed the sunset bomb for a well deserved win. It also booked him his place in the main event of Re-Awakening.

As he was celebrating his future, Azazal reminded him of the past by clotheslining him down. It seems as if the issue between these two isn’t dead just yet.
