Richter looked determined from the
outset but he was going to have his hands full. Spike Steele is one
of the premiere wrestlers in this country and he brought his A-game
to RE-AWAKENING. Richter controlled the early going with his power
and size advantage.
Spike headed to the floor to try and slow the big man’s momentum.
Richter came out after him but was caught napping as he re-entered
the ring. This gave the Spike the opportunity he needed and he
seized control of the match. The echo from Steele’s chops resonated
all around the Margaret Cockman Pavilion. Richter missed a charge
into the corner and damaged his right arm. Spike was quick to
pounce.
Richter scored with the Impaler (chokeslam
backbreaker) but the referee was knocked down in the process. With
no ref to count the three, Spike recovered and went back to work on
the injured arm. Spike almost had Richter down with a sleeper but
the big man fought up and dropped all of his weight onto Steele. The
impact knocked him out cold and Richter registered the three count
for a HUGE shock win. We were going to see a Richter v Psychofett
final later that night.
