EPW Chain Match
Mikey vs Azazal |
This wasn’t just a match of the year
contender. This was one of the greatest matches in EPW’s three year
history.
Brutality in this match would reach levels that hadn’t been seen
since FN Carnage v Lobo at Evolution, earlier this year. But unlike
Carnage/Lobo, this match had no title on the line. It was driven by
nothing more than pure hatred.
Azazal was reluctant to put the chain on and attacked Mikey before
it could be attached to him. But it didn’t take long for Mikey to
assert himself and get the chain onto his foes arm.
Azazal tried twice to escape but Mikey simply pulled him back into
the ring. Mikey’s intensity and fury was being unleashed on Azazal
face as punches as forearms rained down on him. But Azazal wasn’t
going to be outdone and he hit back with vicious cross face
forearms. |

The ‘Rising Star was dumped
to the outside but he used it to his advantage as he dragged Azazal from
buckle to buckle. He re-entered the ring with a huge crossbody that
registered the first two count of the match.
The turning point came when Azazal pulled Mikey into the steel ring
post, busting him open. Like a shark sniffing blood, Azazal went on the
attack. He threw Mikey all over the ringside area, stopping only to
punish him with more punches to his bleeding forehead.
When Mikey got a glimpse of the blood, he snapped and slapped Azazal
repeatedly before hitting a brain buster. A huge chain assisted punch
had the ‘Fallen Angel’ bleeding and looking for solace on the floor.
Now it was Mikey’s turn to go to work. He battered his opponent all over
the arena, even taking it into the crowd. He then ascended the top
turnbuckle and flew into the crowd with a massive swanton dive. |

Mikey brought a guardrail back into the
ring but was soon regretting that decision after being backdropped
onto the solid steel rail. Azazal set Mikey up for another move on
the rail but found himself the recipient of a rail assisted old
school expulsion.
Mikey tried to end the match by sending Azazal through a table but
was spinbustered off the apron through the wood.
The match should have been over but Azazal was too injured to follow
up quickly. Mikey yanked at the chain and it broke free from
Azazal’s wrist. Mikey used the chain to batter him some more but
determination kept Azazal in it. An Inner Turmoil (diamond dust) was
followed up by a Fallen Angel for the nearest of near falls. Azazal
was enraged and floored the referee. Mikey took this chance to
recover and hit an amazing Rising Star Press. But by the time a
second referee appeared the moment was gone. That ref was then
clotheslined out of his boots by Azazal. With both men again joined
at the wrist, the match turned for the home straight.
Neither man would give up no matter what the other threw at them. A
tornado clothesline got Mikey a two count before a scintillating
superkick put Azazal down for the three count. Both men received a
more than well deserved standing ovation from the crowd. They stood
across the ring from each other and gave a stare that oozed of
respect. |

The EPW champion FN Carnage returned
and started to lay Mikey out with clubbing blows. Davis Storm and
the Vagrant came out to make the save but were attacked from behind
by Devlin Reeves and Jamie Jurah. The Vagrant had the indignity of
suffering a huge cutter from his opponent for RE-AWAKENING, Slick
Rick Sanders. Reeves and Jurah laid Storm out with their Brat Attack
DDT sending a message to the other three teams they are set to face
at RE-AWAKENING. And finally, Carnage drilled Mikey with a
piledriver leaving him in a heap. The Brat Pack stood tall and
celebrated. But will they be celebrating after November 6th? Only
time will tell. |
