| As you may have heard a lot recently, the
voting for the EPW End of Year Awards will soon begin. It has been a long and exciting
year for all involved with Explosive Pro Wrestling, as we are sure it has been for you
fans also. This article is basically a recap of the
year thus far. This will hopefully make it easier for you to make choices for the awards.
The Mark Has Been Made
January 18th 2003, Wanneroo Civic Centre
An up and down card. Very few performances that any of the
wrestlers would claim as their best for the year. Featured an absolutely cracking main
event, which saw MPW stars Jag and Havok defeat Jimmy Payne and Davis Storm thanks to the
interference of Damien Kross. It also featured the debut of Devlin Reeves. It was also
Shiggins only match for the year.

The Uprising
February 22nd 2003, Wanneroo Civic Centre
This event saw an entertaining opener as four new trainees made their debut, Chris
Lazareth, BobbyBadBlood, Shane Haste and Kiel E. Lectrifying. Lazareth took the win and
the EPW contract. Jimmy Payne and Mikey picked up right where they left off last year,
turning in another Match of the Year candidate as they fought it out for the EPW title.
Another good event.

Evil Intentions
April 12th 2003, Margaret Cockman Pavilion
For sheer wrestling entertainment, this event will rank highly as a contender for event of
the year. A well rounded card that featured 3 match of the year candidates. It concluded
with one of the most emotional bouts of the year between Davis Storm and Damien Kross.
Kross lost the match but gained alot of respect before bowing out from EPW competition. An
amazing Chair on a Pole match was responsible for putting Brad West on the EPW map.
Unfortunately, he could not defeat Mikey in this great match up. The other highlight of
this event was the match between Devlin Reeves and Psychofett. Anyone who attended would
surely rank this as the funniest live bout they have ever seen. This was the last event
that we saw Mixer participate in this year.

Evolution 2003
May 30th and 31st 2003, Margaret Cockman Pavilion
This was the first time that an EPW event took place over two nights. Tag team matches
ruled this event with EPW tag team champions being crowned at the end of the two nights.
We saw the first ever EPW rumble at this event. Probably the only match in contention for
match of the year would be the final contested between The Brat Pack and the team of Payne
and Storm although there were many great performances over the course of the weekend. This
event also saw the debut of the Serial Thrillas as a tag team.

Hell Or Highwater
July 12th 2003, Margaret Cockman Pavilion
Another solid event. You would have to search hard to find a bad match in amongst these.
Azazal and Storm had a terrific opening match that ended with a shocking turn and an even
more shocking return. Azazal especially turned in his finest performance for the year and
scored a huge victory. The Vagrant came back to EPW to a huge response. Carnage took the
EPW title from Jimmy Payne in a great main event. We also had two guests from the
Sledgehammer of Justice radio show, Tino and Phill.

Brock Freeman and Psychofett went to a double count out

Inner Turmoil
August 23rd 2003, Margaret Cockman Pavilion
Another solid event with the craziest and, probably, most emotional ending to an event
thus far. The Serial Thrillas won their title match with The Brat Pack but did not take
home the tag titles in an exciting match. The Vagrant had his best outing of the year as
he took and bested James Street, Kiel E. Lectrifying and BobbyBadBlood. The event will be
widely remembered for the wild brawl that took place in all parts of the arena.
Other Matches:
Mikey def Anda Nothica
Richter def Devlin Reeves
Azazal def Shane Haste
Jimmy Payne def Brock Freeman
Chris Lazareth def Psychofett
Davis Storm and Xeriyous Blade fought to a no-contest
House Show #3
The best house show to date featured the debut of EPWs first female wrestler in
Michelle. Haste and Kiel E. fought out an exciting main event.

Devlin Reeves def Michelle
Brad West def BobbyBadBlood
Shane Haste def Kiel E. Lectrifying
Its certainly going to be a hard task to decide
these awards with many worthy contenders in each category. Good luck with your voting. |
