| 10/12/03 - The Fallout from Re-Awakening |
Re-Awakening was huge event. Most say it
was the greatest event in Explosive Pro Wrestlings short history. Never before have
so many major occurrences taken place at an EPW event. SO the question must now be asked,
where does that leave us all now? After Re-Awakening, where does each wrestlers go from
here? This will be just a brief look at some of the wrestlers future fortunes. Many of
their stories need to be examined in in-depth articles for epwperth.com but for now, just
read and enjoy.
HASTES AMERICAN NIGHTMARE??
Leading into Re-Awakening, there were many questions surrounding the Brock Freeman
challenge. And strangely, there are probably more unanswered questions now that
Re-Awakening is complete. Freeman had Shane Haste and Kiel E. Lectrifying wrestle a match
to decide who his Rookie of the Year was. He also said that he would mentor whoever lost
the match in an attempt to bring them up to his level. Kiel E. won after Freeman
distracted Haste. Haste politely declined Freemans help but was then viciously
assaulted by The American Nightmare. So what was Freemans REAL intention
behind setting up this match? There was no contract stipulation stating that Freeman would
officially become Hastes mentor, so was this Brocks way of setting Haste up?
Noone knows for sure except Brock but it was clear that Brock is not going to take no for
an answer from Haste. We think that this issue is far from over.
THE BRADICALS CAUSING HUGE PROBLEMS FOR THE BRATS??
The newest fan group in EPW, the Bradicals, certainly had plenty to cheer about at
Re-Awakening. First, Brad West disposed of Jamie Jurah in their Invitational Tournament
semi final. He then went to battle with the EPW champion FN Carnage. Carnage dominated the
match early on but the longer the match went, the more Brads confidence seemed to
grow. West was able to beat the odds (and Slick Ricks interference) and stela a
highly improbable win. Brad proved in this match that he could not only hang with the very
best in EPW, he could beat them. Of course winning the Invitational Tournament makes Brad
the #1 contender for the EPW Title.
FN Carnage and Slick Rick have both made it clear in the past that they did not want Brad
to challenge for the EPW Title. Their argument was that West did not belong in the ring
with the champion. He has now proven that he does deserve that shot. The Brat Pack now
face a nervous wait to find out exactly when that title match will take place. When it
does, you can bet that Brad will not start as an underdog any longer.
THE UPRISING-HERE TO STAY??
After twelve months in charge of EPW, The Uprising finally lost control at Re-Awakening to
Team EPW. While that was clearly a huge loss, the bad news may not be over for the
Uprising.
Mere moments after being defeated at Re-Awakening, there were rumours of dissension
forming already. Many EPW staff heard yelling coming from The Uprising dressing room. They
have said that there was one person clearly yelling directly at another. The phrase
Where the hell were you
..It was all your fault were repeatedly hurled at
one of the members of The Uprising. Another member was heard trying to calm the situation
down but these attempts were reported to be unsuccessful. For the first time since their
formation, the Uprising were seen leaving the event separately.
The Uprisings strength was their unity. They were all united to the same cause. It
can now be argued that their unity has been splintered after they lost control of EPW.
Whether or not they can regroup and dominate EPW again is yet to be seen? Even more
importantly for them, can they regroup and survive as a team?
All of these situations need addressing in the new-year. Exactly where the answers lead us
is anyones guess. |
