Evolution 2004
07/05/04 - One Last Look at Evolution 2004
Evolution 2004 is only hours away. We have a few surprises to announce which should make Evolution 2004 even more interesting. Let’s take a look at the card as it shapes up.

Night 1 has seen a fair few matches announced already. We will see the three way challenge return for Evolution 2004. Three men will do battle in singles matches. The wrestler who wins the most bouts will be declared the winner. In the case of a tie, a sudden death three way will take place. First man to score a pinfall or submission will be declared the winner. We can now announce that the three men in the bout will be Brad West and the Genetically Superior Team (G.S.T.) As one half of the EPW tag team champions, Brad will have to be at his best to defeat both members of this team.

We also know that Justin Sane has accepted the challenge laid down to him by Slick Rick Sanders. After receiving a Ryhypnol Spike at Animosity, Rick was livid. He then challenged Justin to face Havok at Evolution. Justin has accepted knowing that a win would put him into the elite in EPW. However, Havok is no ordinary opponent. He is possibly the most devastating wrestler in Australia today. His offence is limitless and he knows how to hurt people. Justin will have to turn in a career best performance just to stay alive in this match.

A grudge match of the highest degree will determine who will become the #1 contenders to the tag team titles. The issues between the Brat Pack and Devlo-Fett are well documented. Psychofett and Devlin Reeves will face an extremely fired up FN Carnage who is angry he has to be in this match with his huge battle against Lobo set to take place 24 hours later. Devlin Reeves is out for revenge after the Brats broke his leg at Black Friday. This should be a red-hot encounter. There has been no word on when the winners will receive their tag team title shot.

Another match has just been signed for Night 1 of Evolution. Jimmy Payne has challenged Tommy Cartel to face a mystery opponent. He has said that if Cartel faces his mystery opponent, he will confront Tommy during Night 2. Cartel and Blade have accepted as they are looking to end Jimmy’s career once and for all. But who will the mystery opponent be. Jimmy has been coy about the topic but simply said that the opponent would bring Cartel plenty of fight.

And of course, the main event of Night 1. ‘The Extreme High Flier’ taking on the ‘Rising Star’. ‘Jag’ Brett James will go one on one with EPW’s own Mikey. When Mikey heard that Jag was returning for Evolution, he lobbied for this match. Mikey is still fired up over Jag attacking him at Black Friday. He feels that he owes Jag more than a little payback. Much like Justin Sane, Mikey will have to be at his absolute best to defeat Jag. Jag is still undefeated in Explosive Pro Wrestling and will be looking to continue that trend in this match. It should be an incredible battle and an incredible match.

With the #1 contendership up in the air, Azazal has refused to fight Richter on Night 1. He has said that he will not waste his time in useless match when he has the chance to become #1 contender. In fact, many EPW wrestlers are refusing to take on any matches for Night 2 until they find out what is happening in regards to the #1 contender situation.

But what we do know for sure is that FN Carnage will defend his EPW Title in the main event of Night 2. His opponent will be the Australian wrestling icon, that is, Lobo. The two men will do battle in a taped fist street fight that should take both men taken to their limits. FN Carnage is the longest reigning EPW champion in history. But he has never faced this sort of competition. Lobo is a legend in Australian wrestling. He has built his reputation in hardcore and ladder matches that are some of the most brutal bouts to ever take place in Australia. There is no length that this man will not go to, to win the match and to entertain the fans. This should be a classic match that will be talked about for some time to come.

So if you don’t have tickets yet, you better get your hands on some. Tickets to both nights can still be purchased for $22, even at the door. But this offer only applies when you purchase tickets to both nights at the same time.

We hope to see you all there. Do not be the one who misses out.
