Professional wrestling is often a game of opportunity, a game of
chance.. some may even say luck.
However, the main event title match this coming Saturday has
nothing to do with luck.
Good fortune has nothing to do with Psychofett having his first
shot at Explosive Pro Wrestling's richest prize... he owes this
title shot to hard work, dedication and a natural ability that
is to frequently overlooked or overshadowed.
Psychofett is the single most
charismatic and entertaining man to ever grace an EPW ring.
Having debuted at Awakening in November of 2001, this stalwart
has always been a favourite amongst fans, many of those being
the younger children who frequent EPW shows. Psychofett is best
remembered for his tremendous display at Re-Awakening 2003 in a
'Softcore' classic against the then 'Playboy' Devlin Reeves.
Over 500 fans in attendance witnessed comedic wrestling at it's
finest which left both seasoned wrestling fans and first-timers
clutching their sides in fits of laughter.
However, much to the dismay of
these fans, Dev-lo-fett exploded in a shocking display by Devlin
Reeves as he turned his back on the 'Red Dragon' and his adoring
fans to join Slick Rick Sanders and the Brat Pack. Psychofett
exacted the revenge fans had been craving as he went about
destroying not just Reeves, but the entire Brat Chat set on his
way to an emphatic victory.
A year after the 'Softcore'
classic, many believed that Re-Awakening 2004 would be the night
that 'Fett would come of age, none more so than Psychofett
himself. After cruising past rookie AZ Vegara in the
semi-finals, Psychofett stood toe-to-toe with 6'4" of Richter.
After a hard fought battle that had fans on the edge of their
seats, Psychofett was blasted over the skull by a cane-wielding
Azazal and had his shoulders pinned opportunistically by
Richter.
Azazal made the exact same
mistake that Brock Freeman and Devlin Reeves did - he crossed
the Red Dragon. And as history has shown us.. revenge is a
notion that Psychofett has no problem entertaining. Fett
demolished Freeman in EPW's first lumberjack match... he mauled
his former tag team partner Devlin Reeves and at EPW's last
event, defeated Azazal after a brutal match in which both men
hunted each other with Singapore canes. Psychofett had avenged
himself after the disappointment of Re-Awakening some four
months earlier but had only just begun his ascendency to EPW
title glory.
Later that night, Psychofett bested some of the biggest names in
the this promotion, pinning former EPW Champion Jimmy Payne in
the centre of the ring and stood triumphantly and deservedly as
our Number One contender.
But by far the toughest test of
his career will be this coming Saturday at Explosive Pro
Wrestling's Flame or Fortune. The number-one contender
Psychofett will face current and defending EPW Champion in
Mikey. Ironically, both men debuted in 2001 at Awakening facing
each other, with Mikey claiming the victory... but it's a much
more mature and determined Psychofett that he'll meet this
Saturday. Win or lose this Saturday, Psychofett has proven that
he has what it takes to be one of the premiere wrestlers in this
country.. but he'll have to pin one of the country's best to
wear the gold. |
