Callan has been EPW’s ring
announcer since April 2006. Callan was previously an EPW regular
who has been attending shows for many years.
August 25th. Desperate Measures.
The #1 contender, “The Awe Inspiring” Shane Haste, will face off
against the current EPW champion, Jimmy Payne, in a steel cage
match. All I can say is, FREAKIN’ SWEET! Here are my thoughts on
who I think will win and why.
I was there in the crowd at
Survival of the Fittest in January 2005 when Jimmy Payne made
his return to EPW. Since then he has gone on to dominate the EPW
landscape and has defended the title in some of the best matches
seen not only in Perth, but the whole of Australia (night 2 of
Evolution 2007 anyone?). He has faced all comers and still
stands strong as our EPW champion.
And then you have the Awe-inspiring
One. Shane Haste has gone from jokey fan-pleaser to…well…jokey
fan-pleaser with a new ass kicking state of mind. Haste has
managed to work his way to being a serious contender to the EPW
title and he has done it his way. He is a serious threat to
Jimmy’s championship reign.
The cage will be an interesting
factor in the match. Of the two men, I believe Jimmy will use
the cage most effectively as a weapon. On the other hand, it is
a pretty safe bet that Haste will use it as a platform for some
of the unbelievable aerial manoeuvres he is known for. How both
men make use of their steel enclosure will be the deciding
factor in who comes out victorious.
All in all I’m sure that it will be
a fantastic physical display by two great competitors but at the
end of the night I think that I will be announcing “Ladies and
Gentlemen, here is your winner and NEW EPW Champion, Shane
Haste”..
