On the 25th of August 2007 at Desperate Measures, Jimmy
Payne will step inside an unforgiving steel cage with the #1
contender, Shane Haste. The question I get asked at least 10
times a day is………where did you buy those sweet shoes?
But the other question I get asked a lot is, can Shane Haste
defeat Jimmy Payne? I would like to say yes with confidence but
the truth is I am not sure.
Jimmy Payne has held the EPW title for a year. It defines who he
is. He isn’t just an EPW wrestler. He is Jimmy Payne, the EPW
champion. The best have challenged him and he has beaten them
all. In the past year he has defeated:
CJL, Bobby Marshall, Devlin Reeves, Havok, Jamie Jurah, Rusty
Evans (ok that one wasn’t really worth bragging about) and
Azazal just to name a few. Some of them came close but it
doesn’t matter how many 2 counts you can get on the champ. If
you can’t pin him down for the 3 seconds, then it means nothing.
Which brings me back to the question at hand………can Shane Haste
beat the champ?
In a normal match I couldn’t side with Shane. However, this
match is in a steel cage! Shane has one chance. Keep Jimmy
grounded and take to the air! If Shane can take a few risks from
the top rope and they pay off, then he will be the new champ.
However, if Shane does something crazy and misses, Jimmy Payne
will easily climb out to victory as the refs attempt to scrape
Shane off the canvas.
So am I fence sitting? You betcha! I want so badly to see Shane
Haste get that title but I guess I am just going to have to wait
until the 25th of August just like everyone else to see who will
walk away from the steel cage at Desperate Measures the
undisputed EPW champion.
