21/12/07 - EPW Announces First Major Event for 2008
GOLDRUSH

After an incredible end to 2007, Explosive Pro Wrestling is proud to present, its first major event for 2008, GOLDRUSH.

On February 16th, the Venville Recreation Centre will play host to an action packed show that will see four of EPW’s very best fight it out for two of the most valuable pieces of gold in Australian wrestling today.

After losing the EPW championship in 2007, Jimmy Payne has finally exercised his mandatory return title match. However, he has not chosen to take aim at the EPW champion Shane Haste. Rather, Jimmy has decided to take aim at the NWA Australian Championship. So at Goldrush, Mikey Nicholls will go one on one with his old nemesis, Jimmy Payne with the Australian Championship on the line.

EPW officials were stunned by this move as they had planned for Jimmy to exercise his rematch clause to go after the EPW championship.

With no official #1 contender, it was decided that Shane Haste’s opponent at GOLDRUSH would be none other than Spike Steele. Spike has been on a roll in EPW since returning here almost 12 months ago. He holds victories over Chris J Lazareth, Richter, Bobby Marshall and at RE-AWAKENING he beat Devlin Reeves in a brutal ‘House of Pain’ match.

Shane will need to dig deep to stop Steele from being the first Victorian based wrestler to wear EPW gold.

Tickets will go on sale soon so stay tuned to epwperth.com for further details.

So there you have it folks, two massive match ups with plenty more to come. We will soon have an announcement on the first EPW Road Show for 2008 which is scheduled to take place in January.
