***********WARNING – THIS
ARTICLE WILL CONTAIN MONDAY NIGHT WRESTLING
SPOILERS****************************
Since it’s inception as a two day
extravaganza in 2003, Evolution has been voted the Event of the
Year by the EPW fans every year bar one.
Without fail, Evolution sees at least two match of the year
contenders over the two nights & this year may see EPW exceed
those lofty expectations.
After defeating FN Carnage on
Monday Night
Wrestling, Bobby Marshall has goaded Carnage into the
match that helped put the latter onto the Australian wrestling
landscape. A Taped Fist Street Fight. Carnage’s war with Lobo at
Evolution 2004 is still considered one of the most brutal bouts
in EPW history. This non title match will be the main event of
night one & is all about respect. Marshall believes that the
only way he will get respect is by ending the legacies of all
who came before him and he has the former EPW champion in his
sights.
Apparently Mikey Nicholls & Shane Haste couldn’t get enough of
each other at the Monday Night Wrestling tapings because they
will renew their rivalry on May 16th. Both men consider
themselves the best in EPW & neither will be holding anything
back.
The EPW tag team champions, the European Union, will have their
backs to the wall as they defend the belts in a four way tag
team match. Challenging them for the belts will be Drake Wallace
& Ferguson Block, Dan Moore & Chase Griffin and Vin Penhero &
Sebastian Sander.
In what he has described as a warm up for his match on night
two, Jimmy Payne will face Jose Del Santo in a falls count
anywhere match. Payne says he will use the match to send a
message to Davis Storm. If Del Santo can somehow pull out an
unlikely victory, it could rocket him straight to the top.
Jimmy won’t be the only bully in action as his good friend & tag
team partner, Nate Dooley, will face off against Richter. He may
have to come up with a new strategy though as it’s unlikely he
will be pushing around the 6 foot 4 inch giant.
Evolution night one is looking like it could be the best one in
its six year history. You can not afford to miss this. We will
see a taped fist street fight, a falls count anywhere
match & a wild and unpredictable four way match for the EPW tag
team championships. When you throw in Shane Haste & Mikey
Nicholls I think it’s safe to say that the EPW board have gone
all out for this years Evolution.
