With August 9th fast approaching,
we are examining the question, who will win the Queens Park
Rumble & go on to face the EPW champion at RE-AWAKENING VII?
Let’s take a look at what the imaginary bookmakers in my head
are saying.
RICHTER (4-1)
Size matters in this kind of match & there aren’t many that come
any bigger than Richter. But perhaps more importantly, Richter
seems motivated to take a shot at Bobby Marshall. A motivated
Richter is a scary thought for anyone in EPW. He has never main
evented a RE-AWAKENING which must be a strong motivation as
well. The facts tell us that if Richter truly wants to win this
match, he will.
SEBASTIAN SANDER / TYLER JACOBS (6-1)
One could make his career with a victory while the other could
re-establish himself in the upper echelon of EPW.
Sander has shown enough in his short career to warrant strong
favoritism in this match. Again, if size matters, who the hell
is going to throw this kid out? And with his entourage in Team
Allstar at ringside, he will go in as a strong favourite.
Jacobs has transformed himself back into the hungry, aggressive
athlete who ruled EPW with an ironfist throughout 2004. Aligning
yourself with the head of the EPW Board of Directors certainly
doesn’t hurt your chances of success in EPW either. His desire
to prove the fans wrong could be just the driving force he
needs.
SHANE HASTE (7-1)
Shane’s ability in the air is unparalleled in EPW. Noone has the
same kind of body control when they leave their feet. This skill
makes Shane tough to eliminate in a match like this. Wrestlers
will really need to catch Shane unawares in order to throw him
out of the Rumble. Despite his new direction with the Blitz
Team, Haste is a competitor & there can be no doubting that the
loss to Bobby Marshall still eats at him.
DAVIS STORM (15-2)
Now with the form that he has been in through out 2008, why
would we list Davis Storm as third favourite in the Queens Park
Rumble? Injuries. Storm has accomplished more this year than he
has since his glory days in ‘03/ ’04. His feud with Jimmy Payne
was possibly the greatest fought in EPW history but that victory
came at a price. While being very coy about what his actual
injuries are, Storm is not at 100%. If experience counts for
anything, he will win this Rumble hands down.
DEVLIN REEVES / FERGUSON BLOCK / DRAKE WALLACE (20-1)
All three of these men have challenged for the top prize in EPW
& want to get themselves back to their former glory sooner
rather than later. All three are experienced enough to know what
this opportunity means & will not waste their chance.
BARRY SCHMIDT (100-1)
That’s probably still being a little generous. Until hatred for
the fans becomes a trait that helps wrestlers win matches, he’s
probably going to struggle in this match. There will be plenty
of experienced wrestlers just waiting to ‘welcome’ him to EPW in
this match.
If I was given $100 to bet on this Rumble (and if a bookmaker
would actually take bets on professional wrestling) I’d put $15
on Storm, Wallace & either Jacobs or Haste with the remaining
$55 going on the big man Richter.
