Since
winning the tag team titles in May last year, Dan
Moore and Chase Griffin have been on a
quest to prove that they deserve to be the
champions. “It was a huge shock at the time,” said
the current EPW champion Davis Storm. “I
don’t think anyone gave them a chance. I mean they
were an exciting team, but the tag titles probably
seemed at least a year away for them. They’ve done a
great job ever since, proving that they deserve to
be in the spot that they’re in.”

They have accepted and turned back every challenge
that they have encountered. To most observers, it
seems that their quest for respect is complete.
But within the team, there are massive doubts that
it will be mission accomplished if they lose the tag
team titles this Saturday at
GOLDRUSH.

“You
could see it in their faces at
AFTERSHOCK,” EPW commentator Dean Olsen
mused. “Chase’s face didn’t scream aggression when
he got his team disqualified. It was desperation. He
feels that if they lose those belts now, all their
hard work will be undone.”
Although Chase was openly upset that his partner
offered the Blitz Team a rematch for March
21st, he must know deep down that this is a mountain
they must conquer if they truly want the respect of
all.

But
this will not be an easy task. Blitz Team appear to
have their number at this time. Shane Haste
would be in just about everyone’s top five EPW
wrestlers of all time and he has instilled a
confidence in Alex Kingston that has driven
him to another level. There is no doubt that his
performances have improved tenfold with his mentor
by his side. This is a team that believes that it’s
just a matter of time before they wear tag team
gold.
Dan Moore and Chase Griffin will need to implement a
new game plan because the one they have brought to
the last two bouts with Blitz Team has not worked.
Dan Moore needs to stop worrying about respect
because they’ve already earnt it. And Chase Griffin
needs to stop worrying about how to walk away with
the gold and start focusing on winning.

This
champion team has proven that they can overcome any
opponent they are confronted with. But on March 21st
they will face their greatest opponent yet. Self
doubt.
