In the first part of this series,
we took a look at two of the remaining participants in this
year’s Invitational Tournament and their chances of taking it
out. Today we will examine the chances of two more of the
finalists and what they need to do to make it to the final at
RE-AWAKENING.
SEBASTIAN SANDER
Team All Star’s #1 draft pick has really stepped up in 2009.
It’s true that he’s suffered some losses this year but he has
competed against some of the very best in EPW and looked
fantastic in doing so. He dominated a four way match on night
one of Evolution before Davis Storm, Jay Taylor and AZ Vegara
worked together to eliminate the big man from the contest. And
with Team All Star in his corner, he is a red hot chance of
beating anyone in EPW on any given night.
Favoured Opponent in the Next Round: Sander is at his best when
he can get a hold of an opponent and break him down. Tyler
Jacobs is coming off a serious knee injury and if Sander can
withstand his initial onslaught, he would be able to focus his
intensity and size on Jacobs’ dodgy knee. Sander may quietly
wish for a semi final encounter with Dan Moore but this could
prove to be a danger match for the big man. Moore has a great
tag team record against the captain of Team All Star and if he
could hang in there long enough, he could put some serious doubt
in Sanders’ mind.
DAVIS STORM
This two time EPW champion is 100% focused on winning the
championship back and in doing so is hoping to achieve one of
the few things he has never done in EPW. Win the Invitational
Tournament. It is hard to imagine but Storm has only been in the
Invitational finals on one occasion. He lost to long term rival,
Jimmy Payne, in the inaugural tournament in 2001. He has waited
a long time for another chance and would have to be one of the
favourites remaining in the field.
Favoured Opponent in the Next Round: No wrestler on the EPW
roster is better at capitalising on his experience advantage.
Storm has been in more high profile matches than just about
anyone on the EPW roster and is rarely overawed by the occasion.
The two least experienced men remaining in the tournament are
Dan Moore and Sebastian Sander. Moore holds no significant size
advantage over Storm like Sebastian Sander (nor a posse of
interference runners) might and the ‘Ironman’ would be able to
dispose of Moore in relatively efficient fashion.
