05/07/10 - Countdown to Hell or Highwater 2010 - Storm vs Jurah

HELL OR HIGHWATER 2010

They say styles make fights and never was this more true than night one of Evolution 2010 when Jamie Jurah defended his EPW title against Davis Storm. The technical prowess, high flying and relentless attack of the ‘Ironman’, against the pinpoint striking, quickness, and mind games of the ‘Master of the Jurahverse’ led to one of the most captivating main events EPW has seen in quite some time.

With this being their first ever one on one encounter, neither competitor knew quite what to expect. The opening minutes served as a feeling out period, both men testing their opponents’ abilities. It played out as an engaging game of cat and mouse as Jurah used vicious leg kicks to keep distance between the two men. What perhaps no one expected was the way Jamie Jurah reacted once Storm managed to get his hands on the champ. Enjoying a rare strength advantage Davis used power to try and get the win early, injuring Jurah’s shoulder in the process. Realizing he was in for the fight of his life, Jurah changed his tactics. Where many expected him to relish in the competition he instead started looking for ways to survive.

The tide turned when Storm suffered damage to his leg as a result of a suplex on the outside which caught the edge of the announce table. Jurah saw this as a target and went about systematically taking it apart. Frustrated by Storm’s resilience, Jurah attempted to win by count out several times, but the ‘Ironman’ just wouldn’t stay down. The closing minutes of that match where as intense and hard fought as any title match in recent history. Both men, wounded, fought tooth and nail right up until the final bell, which rang out with Jurah trapped in a crossface, seemingly seconds from tapping out. The contest ended a 30 minute time limit draw, Jurah retaining on the technicality. The fans screamed for five more minutes, but Jurah declined, stating he had fulfilled his contractual obligations

On July 10th, 2010, fans will get their wish as these two men will square off once again at the 9th annual Hell or Highwater. There will be no feeling out period this time, no cat and mouse. From the opening bell we can expect to see two of the best competitors in Australia throw everything at each other. With the gold on the line they will have little regard for their own safety and none for that of their opponent. Each man has taken all that the other can muster, and survived a full half hour. Exactly what it will take to keep one of these men down for the three count, or even less likely, make one of them tap out, I can’t imagine.

The head of the EPW board of directors, Brett Corvus, has promised this match will give the EPW fans what they want, an Undisputed EPW Champion. Round one was an instant classic and a sure fire contender for match of the year. Round two could very well be match of the decade! This time there will be a winner, come Hell or Highwater!

With titles, tables, and tournaments, Hell or Highwater 2010 has an action packed card, set to showcase all that EPW has to offer. Make sure you secure your tickets now by clicking here or by phoning 0409 373 937.
