Less than two weeks ago, EPW
officials laid the gauntlet down at the feet of the new
generation of wrestlers who had started to make an impact, but
had not yet cemented their place at the top of the tree.
PUT UP OR SHUT UP.
Goldrush
will see them get their opportunity as the theme of ‘Old School
versus the New Generation’ dominates this show.
The main event will see the winner
of the 2010 Invitational Tournament, the ‘Golden
Greek’ Marcius Pitt get his chance for ultimate glory as he
challenges the newly crowned EPW Champion, the
‘Ironman’ Davis Storm. Can Pitt be the latest Invitational
Tournament winner to grab the EPW championship?
The Tag Team Champions,
Chris Vice and Jonathon Wimbledon were on an amazing
roll in 2010. And they are expecting that momentum to carry on
into 2011. But at
Goldrush, they will have to go toe to toe with a team that
is on a serious high after an enormous end to last year. Team
All Star defeated their greatest rivals, the Blackest
Hour, in what was determined to be the best match of 2010.
Their team captain, Sebastian Sander defeated South
Australia’s Rocky Menero at
Re-Awakening
before being dubbed a ‘superstar’ waiting to happen by Mikey
Nicholls. Can he and ‘the Don’ Michael Morleone stop
Vice and Wimbledon in their tracks?
‘The Innovator of Radness’ Alex
Kingston has been largely reknowned for his tag team
exploits in EPW. As one half of the Blitz Team, Kingston
claimed the tag team titles and was involved in the best match
of 2009. Now he gets the chance to finally break out of his tag
team mould by claiming EPW gold. But to do it, he will have to
take a visit to the realm of Hardcore. And that is where his
opponent, ‘Shotgun’ Tyler Jacobs is most at home. Jacobs
won the Hardcore Title from Chase Griffin in a
brutal and bloody brawl at
Re-Awakening
but Kingston says he is ready to arrive as a serious singles
competitor and will be looking to cause the upset of the year at
Goldrush.
JT was fuming after being
defeated by rookie sensation, Brett Foxx at
Re-Awakening.
Taylor demanded a singles bout with Foxx at
Goldrush and
that request has been granted. Foxx has said that he knows he
will be the heavy underdog but that no-one gave him a chance to
defeat JT the first time and he will be more than happy to prove
that his victory was no fluke.
And the Blackest Hour will
finally return to action after recovering from the brutality of
the Riot
Den Match. But they will be met by the team of Gavin
‘the Shootfighter’ McGavin and the ‘White Flash’ Ryan
Dangerfield. This unlikely pairing showed great chemistry at
the most recent EPW
Members House Show in beating the Schmidts and
are hoping that form carries on at
Goldrush.
With a huge #1 contenders match
still to be announced,
Goldrush is
shaping up as a show that could define where EPW is headed in
2011. And with all the gold on the line, this is going to be a
high stakes show with all the wrestlers laying it all on the
line.
